Snowpocalypse 2011

With this nasty weather upon us, we've all got a tremendous opportunity to look out for those we do life with in our small groups. Many of us are focusing on preparing ourselves and immediate families for impending doom, and rightly so. We would encourage you to also be thinking about others during this time. Maybe someone in your group is not able to get out and get extra supplies, so why not call them up quick and see if they need anything. Better yet, invite them over to your place and enjoy the company of others. Maybe someone's spouse is away on business. Maybe someone is single and could just maybe use the sound of your voice checking in. Let's take this opportunity to REALLY do life together. And utilize this time as a reminder to always be checking in with each other; not just during your meeting times. This is something I need to be better about as well, and was just reminded of this at our last small group gathering! All too often I get busy and consumed with my own life, and neglect those around me. My purpose in joining a small group was not to have something to do once a week, but to really connect with people. Connecting with others is something I must be intentional about, or it won't happen. So, use this weather to express care and love for others. And feel free to reach out to those beyond your small group. There's never a bad time to express God's love for others through actions and words. Many of you model this so well for the rest of us. I'm glad that we all get to do life together, so that we can learn from each other, pick each other up, and love each other in ways that puts a smile on God's face. God bless, and be safe!
